Position: Team Lead – Warehouse
DSV is recruiting for a Team Lead within our Warehouses at Mercia Park, Thrapston. This role will be responsible for the operation of a section within the Warehouse function.
- Supporting the Management Team with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, responsible for a group of operators and ensuring efficient warehouse operations to achieve business targets.
- Provide line management to the team, coordinate workloads, support team delivery, monitor issues, and ensure production targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met to satisfy customer requirements.
- Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support needs to achieve high standards, fostering a culture of safety.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation fulfilling operational and customer demand and meeting set targets.
- Train new Warehouse operatives within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and proper stock movements.
- Support stock takes and ensure systems are accurate and up-to-date.
- Identify system improvements and recommend changes.
- Resolve warehouse issues proactively.
- Produce reports and support capacity planning.
- Maintain health and safety standards, ensure proper manual handling, and equipment maintenance.
- Maintain warehouse security and cleanliness.
- Act up for management during leave or absence.
People Management
- Manage time and attendance, support HR issues, and communicate operational priorities.
- Report progress and concerns to supervisors/managers.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport providers as needed.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Engage and collaborate with team members, contribute to team development, and uphold integrity and honesty.
- Participate in grievance and disciplinary procedures, monitor performance and conduct welfare meetings.
Experience
- Leadership skills with team supervision experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in IT, spreadsheets, databases, and warehouse systems.
- Analytical, numerical skills, and understanding of customer requirements.
- Effective planning skills, attention to detail.
Skills and Competencies
- GCSEs A-C, NVQ Level 2, warehousing qualification advantageous.
- Certifications: Dangerous Goods Handling, supervisory qualification beneficial.
- Proven supervisory experience in warehousing.
- Knowledge of health and safety, security, lean techniques advantageous.
- Forklift license may be required.
