Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supports flexible working. There is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the living wage of £12.60/hour (£24,638/year). This top-up is in place until the 2025/26 pay uplift is confirmed.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity exists in the ABUHB Occupational Therapy (OT) service for a self-motivated, proactive Team Lead Occupational Therapist. You will develop care pathways and innovative working methods to enhance the OT service. This role offers a chance to grow your skills within a supportive, dynamic environment.

Main duties of the job
  • Demonstrate strong clinical and decision-making skills, especially working with individuals with high clinical frailty scores.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, initiative, and flexibility.
  • Ensure the delivery of OT interventions in the most appropriate setting, meeting individual needs and high standards of safe, compassionate care.
  • Welsh language skills are desirable; applications from Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Post-registration module (CQFW level 7, 20/30 credits) or equivalent
  • Accredited practice placement educator
  • Certificate in Leadership and/or Management

Desirable:

  • Member of relevant COT Specialist Section
Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive practice experience
  • Operational management experience
  • Senior OT level experience
  • Involvement in service planning
  • Supervisory experience of less experienced OTs

Desirable:

  • Line management responsibilities
Skills and Attributes

Essential:

  • Ability to assess, plan, and deliver specialized treatments
  • Reflective practitioner with analytical skills
  • Mentoring and supervision skills
  • Understanding of local OT systems
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management principles
  • Leadership capability within an OT team
  • Commitment to leadership and clinical development

Desirable:

  • Welsh language skills (levels 1-5)
Other Requirements
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance including Adults Barred List
  • Ability to travel within geographical areas
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
