NHS Tayside is seeking a skilled Hand Therapy Team Lead at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The role involves leading a team, delivering expert therapy services, and enhancing patient care in orthopaedic and plastic surgery contexts. It promises a dynamic work environment focused on professional development and service excellence.
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to lead the hand therapy team at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. This post will support the orthopaedic and plastic surgery hand services within NHS Tayside in a variety of specialist clinics. This post is open to suitably qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
As team lead for Hand Therapy, you will lead a team of 6 therapists and work closely with the team and the Clinical Lead for Trauma Therapy to identify and develop opportunities for service improvement within the plastic surgery hand service. It is expected that this will increase capacity within the service and allow for increased AHP involvement in traditionally medical-led clinics.
The candidate will have leadership experience, proven skills within hand therapy, and the ability to work autonomously at a highly specialist level. Responsibilities include managing a caseload involving patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge; supervising, educating, and developing staff, support workers, and students within the specialty; providing a specialised resource to other healthcare staff, patients, and carers; and actively participating in Clinical Governance, Clinical Effectiveness, and Research. The department maintains strong links with universities, primarily Edinburgh and Aberdeen, providing student placements.
Informal enquiries or visits are welcome. Please contact Andrew Suttie, Head of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, at 01382 425 626.
Hours of work: 37 per week
