Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to join a friendly and proficient administration team supporting therapists and management who deliver Children & Young People’s Speech and Language Therapy Service across Dorset.

The current vacancy is for 37.5 hours per week, with the option of working from home one day a week.

We are seeking someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as the post holder will be a first point of contact for health and education professionals and parents/carers of patients accessing the service. The role involves providing high-quality administrative support to team leaders and speech and language therapists. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a friendly, positive attitude and an aptitude for electronic administrative work where accuracy is vital. This varied role requires good humour, organizational skills, time management, and the ability to prioritize effectively in a busy environment.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Liaising via written or telephone communication with therapy staff, parents/carers, school staff, health professionals, and other service users as needed.
  2. Accurately maintaining records using computerised systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
  3. Using the electronic patient record system, SystmOne, to book, cancel, and rebook patient appointments, manage clinic rotas, and monitor waiting times to ensure adherence.
  4. Organising and prioritising routine and non-routine workloads.

We welcome applications from candidates who are genuinely interested in joining the Children & Young People’s Speech and Language Therapy administration team. Please use the ‘supporting information’ section within the online application form to detail your skills, knowledge, and experience, specifically relating to the criteria outlined in the Person Specification.
