Job summary

The Mendip School is recruiting a small number of Teaching Assistant roles, across full-time, part-time, maternity cover and shorter day schedules (e.g., 10.00 am to 2.00 pm). You will work under supervision to support individuals or groups inside and outside the classroom, assisting with planning and resource preparation, and occasionally supervising classes during short-term teacher absence.

Job description

We are recruiting for a small number of Teaching Assistant roles across the school, these include full time, part time, maternity cover and shorter day roles. for example 10.00 am until 2.00 pm, so we have a range of flexible opportunities for the right candidates.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants (Grade 4) who, within an agreed system of supervision by our wonderful Teachers, can implement agreed work programmes with individuals or groups of students both inside & outside of the classroom environment. You may assist the Teacher with elements of the planning cycle and the preparation of resources, whilst occasionally supervising whole classes during short-term absence of the Teacher. This position would suit a positive, energetic, proactive team-player who has some experience of being in a classroom!

Responsibilities include:

• Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
• Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills, training &experience to support pupils
• Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes
• Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against pre-determined learning objectives
• Encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities
