Job summary

EdStaff Limited is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join primary schools in the Warrington area, starting immediately on an ongoing basis.

The role involves providing small-group support to pupils, including those with SEND, to help them access the curriculum and stay engaged in learning. You will work closely with teaching staff to monitor progress and reinforce positive behaviours in a welcoming school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in learning environments.
• Level 2/3 qualification in teaching and learning or equivalent experience.
• Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to provide references for at least 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils including those with SEND on 1:1 and small-group bases.
• Implement behaviour strategies and support emotional regulation.
• Monitor and record students' progress and wellbeing for feedback to teachers.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with pupils and work with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists and parents.

About the role:

EdStaff are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join primary schools in Warrington starting immediately on an ongoing basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, patient and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will work within the classroom, providing small-group support to students including those with SEND who require additional help with their learning. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure students remain engaged, confident and able to access the curriculum.

Staff are encouraged to build positive, consistent relationships with pupils, creating a stable and structured learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to behaviour support within a warm and friendly school, allowing you to make a real impact with young people.

Key responsibilities:

• Support pupils. including those with SEND on a 1:1 and small-group basis
• Implement behaviour strategies and support emotional regulation
• Monitoring and recording students' progress and wellbeing to provide feedback to teachers and caregivers.
• Promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that encourages participation and fosters independence.
• Encourage engagement in learning activities
• To build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and parents, to meet holistic care goals

Person specification:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people in a role such as: Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Care worker, Support worker or Children's Residential worker
• Ability to engage students aged 5-11 years
• Strong relationship-building skills
• Good communication and teamwork skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confident working with small groups of secondary-aged students
• Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude

Essential requirements:

• Have the right to work in the UK
• Hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning or relevant experience as detailed above
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
• Able to provide references to cover a 2-year period
