Job summary

EdStaff Limited is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support learners with SEMH/SEND in Wigan. This full-time role involves working 1:1 or in small groups, promoting positive behaviour and supporting teaching and pastoral tasks.

You’ll engage with neurodiverse students, including ADHD, ASD, and ODD, to foster an inclusive learning environment. Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 8:30-3:30 or similar, with safeguarding and collaboration as key components of the role.

Qualifications

• At least 5 GCSEs (grade C/4 or above) including Maths and English.
• Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent.
• Confident supporting young people with challenging behaviour and/or reluctant learners.
• Ability to engage pupils in their learning.
• Flexible and adaptable.
• Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide support by working with small groups or 1:1.
• Promote positive behaviour.
• Work closely with class teachers and other education professionals.
• Assist with general school duties as required.

About the role:

We are looking for strong, enthusiastic and dependable Teaching Assistants, Support workers, youth workers or psychology graduates for full-time positions.

Monday- Friday 8:30-3:30 or similar

You will be responsible for supporting learners 1:1 or within small groups. Focusing on both academic and pastoral tasks. It will be vital that you can build relationships with young people who are neurodiverse, as well as having the confidence to manage challenging behaviours.

Supporting learners with Social, Emotional and Mental health needs, which include ADHD, ASD and ODD. With a strong focus on behavioral management and pastoral care running hand in hand with teaching and learning. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about providing high-quality education and creating an inclusive and positive learning environment for all.
