Job summary

Premier Education is recruiting enthusiastic and reliable teaching assistants for primary schools across Tameside, Denton, Ashton-under-Lyne, Glossop and nearby areas. We have flexible day-to-day work and longer-term roles across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, matched to your experience, availability and preferred year groups.

The successful applicant will support pupils in the classroom, assist teachers with lessons, help pupils stay engaged and contribute to an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience working with children, ideally in a UK primary school.
  • A patient, positive and flexible approach.
  • DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
  • Commitment to safeguarding in line with KCSIE.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in the classroom, individually and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers with lessons, activities and classroom routines.
  • Help pupils remain engaged and make progress.
  • Support children with additional needs where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive learning environment.
  • Adapt confidently to different schools and year groups.

Location: Tameside, Denton, Ashton-under-Lyne, Glossop and surrounding areas


Contract: Full-time and part-time, temporary


Start date: September 2026


Pay: Competitive rates, depending on experience and assignment

What we are looking for


  • Recent experience working with children, ideally in a UK primary school.

  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

  • A patient, positive and flexible approach.

  • Good communication and behaviour-management skills.

  • Confidence supporting children with different learning needs.

  • An enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one.

  • A commitment to safeguarding in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
