SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Chester

Start Date: 06th October 2025

Working Hours: Full Time - Monday to Friday, 08:30am to 15:45pm

Contract Type: Term Time Only

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist school in Chester, supporting children and young people aged 2 to 19 years over 2 sites (Primary and Secondary). Our school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties and/or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and Social, Emotional and Mental Health often with additional learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils\' learning and development under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage social and emotional development.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide tailored support to each student.
  • Help create a safe, stimulating, and engaging learning environment.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children or young people with severe learning difficulties and/or additional needs is highly desirable.
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are an advantage but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting SEND students to achieve their full potential.
  • Previous experience in 1 to 1 roles preferable
