Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support Sport & Behaviour in a specialist secondary setting in Swansea and Ystradgynlais. Immediate start subject to vetting; full-time, term-time only with on-site duties and a requirement to manage behaviour and promote engagement through sport.

Ideal candidates bring backgrounds in sport coaching, youth work, mentoring or education, with a passion for helping learners in Key Stage 3 and 4 to build confidence and resilience.

Teaching Assistant - Sport & Behaviour Support

Make a Difference Through Sport, Mentoring & Positive Relationships

Locations: Swansea & Ystradgynlais
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Access to a Vehicle: Desirable
Start Date: Immediate start (subject to successful completion of vetting and compliance checks)

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic, resilient and energetic individuals with a passion for sport, behaviour support and mentoring young people to work within a specialist secondary setting supporting learners in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

This role would be ideal for candidates with backgrounds in sports coaching, youth work, behaviour support, teaching assistance, mentoring, education, outdoor learning, military services, or community engagement.

The setting supports learners who may have experienced barriers to education, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Challenging behaviours
  • Trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
  • Difficulties with emotional regulation
  • Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
  • Low engagement with mainstream education
  • Attendance challenges and educational disruption

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with young people, children or vulnerable individuals
  • A passion for sport, coaching, mentoring or youth development
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Resilience, patience and a positive attitude
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Experience supporting behaviour or additional needs is desirable
  • Drivers and candidates with access to a vehicle are highly desirable due to the locations
