Job summary

Aspire People in Scunthorpe is seeking a Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs) to support pupils with autism and ADHD in a caring, inclusive school.

You will assist the class teacher, help implement IEPs and behaviour strategies, and contribute to a positive, safe learning environment while prioritising safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable.
  • Understanding of autism and ADHD, and strategies to support these needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Support pupils with autism and ADHD in managing behaviour and staying focused.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.

Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs)
Location: Scunthorpe
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:30

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community in Scunthorpe. This is a full-time position, working closely with pupils who have special educational needs, including autism and ADHD. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop social skills, and reach their full potential in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Support pupils with autism and ADHD in managing behaviour and staying focused
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (desirable)
  • Understanding of autism and ADHD, and strategies to support these needs
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
