Students with SEND are at the heart of our academy, and this role is pivotal in ensuring that some of our most vulnerable learners are fully supported to thrive and succeed. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support learning both in the classroom and in small group or one‑to‑one settings. You will play an important role in helping students engage with their learning, build confidence, and help students to make positive progress across the curriculum.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Be patient, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be committed to supporting the academic and personal development of young people.
  • A passion for the importance of learning
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Further education relating to learning & development needs for SEND students

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working collaboratively with subject teachers to ensure students' progress in individual subjects
  • Working with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Acting as a positive role model both socially and academically
  • Helping to foster and develop positive relationships with staff and peers
  • Being flexible to meet the dynamic needs of the SEND department on a daily basis
  • Identifying personal training needs and attending appropriate internal and external training
  • Being involved in maintaining records, undertaking assessment and evaluating identified students' needs
  • Ensuring inclusive practice and equality of opportunity for all

At The Misbourne, we recognise the vital role our support staff play in the life of the school. Professional development is a priority, and we offer a range of opportunities for staff to develop their skills and take on additional responsibilities. Would you like to make a real difference to the outcomes and life chances of young people? If so, we would welcome you to join our dedicated team.
