Job summary

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with social communication differences under the guidance of the SEN coordinator and classroom teachers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Facilitate social skills development through structured activities and naturalistic settings.
  • Use a variety of communication aids and strategies to enhance pupil interaction and learning.
  • Monitor and support the pupil's emotional and behavioural needs, providing immediate assistance and feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote well-being and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and incidents, reporting to relevant parties as necessary.

  • Job Type: Full-time/Part-time

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the SEN unit of a well-established primary school. This unit specifically supports pupils with significant social communication differences, such as autism. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with social communication differences, under the guidance of the SEN coordinator and classroom teachers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Facilitate social skills development through structured activities and naturalistic settings.
  • Use a variety of communication aids and strategies to enhance pupil interaction and learning.
  • Monitor and support the pupil's emotional and behavioural needs, providing immediate assistance and feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote the well-being and progress of students.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and any incidents that occur, reporting to the relevant parties as necessary.
