Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruitingTeaching Assistants to support a variety of schools across Liverpool from September 2026. You will work with students who need additional support to thrive academically and personally, in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

This role offers long-term, full-time placements with daily rates based on experience and responsibilities such as one-to-one and small group support, safeguarding, and collaboration with teachers and support staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in a professional setting.
  • Previous experience within a UK school or educational environment.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).

Teaching Personnel is recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support a variety of secondary schools, SEN settings, SEMH provisions, and Alternative Provision schools across Liverpool from September 2026.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and build confidence in the classroom. You'll support pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Moderate learning difficulties
  • Behavioural and emotional challenges

Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you'll help create a positive, inclusive environment where every student can succeed.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking individuals who are patient, resilient and genuinely committed to supporting young people. You may already have experience in education, or bring transferable skills from sectors such as youth work, mentoring, support work, residential care or community services.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who can build strong relationships, remain calm under pressure and inspire students to achieve their best.

Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people in a professional setting
  • Previous experience within a UK school or educational environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, adaptable and resilient approach
  • Confidence supporting students with additional learning or behavioural needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
Desirable Experience
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Mentoring, intervention or youth work experience
  • Team Teach, MAPA or behaviour management training
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
