Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Teaching Assistant for a SEND PMLD school in High Wycombe. The role involves supporting children with ASC, PMLD and complex needs, with personal care responsibilities and training provided.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30–3:30. Pay ranges from £92.63 to £100 per day, with temp-to-perm opportunities. DBS checks and safeguarding measures are standard; relevant qualifications and training are required.

Qualifications

  • Empathetic and proactive approach to supporting learning across the school.
  • Experience with Autism/ASC preferred; care experience with ASC children beneficial.
  • Experience in SEND settings or working with SEN children is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Work 1 to 1 or with small groups to support learning.
  • Support children inside and outside the classroom.
  • Supervise break and lunch times.
  • Be a positive role model for students.
  • Assist with medical needs; training provided.
  • Provide personal care as required; training provided.
  • Prepare classroom and resources for lessons.
  • Collaborate with Class Teacher on activities.
  • Document observations on progress and well-being.
  • Help de-escalate challenging behaviours as needed.
  • Attend regular training and meetings when required.

Here at Teaching Personnel, we are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work at one of our SEND PMLD schools in High Wycombe.

This role involves working with children and young people with ASC, PMLD and complex needs. They are seeking a Teaching Assistant who can take an empathetic and proactive approach, and support learning across the school.

Experience with Autism is preferred and care experience with ASC children is preferred but not essential.

This role would suit someone who has previously done care for SEND young adults or worked in a nursey with SEN children.

Personal care will need to be provided - training will be provided for any further personal care or medical needs.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Working 1 to 1 or with small groups
  • Supporting the children inside and outside the classroom
  • Supervising break and lunch times
  • Being a role model
  • Supporting with any medical needs (training will be provided)
  • Personal care
  • Preparing the classroom and resources
  • Collaboratively working with the Class Teacher
  • Reporting any observations on progress, well-being and behaviours
  • Supporting to de-escalate challenging behaviours
  • Attending regular training and meetings when required
The successful applicant must be comfortable with personal care.
Hours:

Monday-Friday 8:30-3:30pm.

Pay:

£92.63 - £100 per day!
