Job summary

Larches High School in Preston is seeking a Teaching Assistant with Level 2 numeracy and literacy to support pupils across core and creative subjects within a Pupil Referral Unit / Medical school setting. The role requires resilience, effective communication with pupils and carers, and collaborative planning with teaching staff.

Term-time only plus one week, 32.5 hours per week, with pro-rata salary. DBS disclosure will be required; visits with the Headteacher are welcome.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Numeracy and Level 2 Literacy are essential.
  • Certificates for the above must be brought to the interview.
  • Level 3 in relevant subject is desirable (or working towards).

Responsibilities

  • Work with teaching staff to plan, deliver and evaluate curriculum for pupils and differentiate content.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
  • Support behaviour, deliver interventions and build relationships with pupils, parents and carers.

Larches High School is a Pupil Referral Unit / Medical school based in the centre of Preston and the Governors are looking to recruit a TA3 to join our successful team in core and creative subjects as well as the nurture provision.

Larches High School delivers education provision for up to 125 children from the Preston area currently not in mainstream education. The personal relationships developed with our pupils ensure that each one achieves their potential both academically and personally.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the teaching staff in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of the effectiveness of the curriculum for pupils and to differentiate curriculum content according to the needs of pupils.

You will also be required to monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher, support behaviour, deliver interventions and establish supportive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents and carers.

The successful candidate will be resilient, flexible and confident working in a busy environment, able to communicate effectively and relate to both pupils and adults, as well as the ability to work calmly under pressure.

We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants from the primary and secondary sectors who have a passion for working with pupils and want to make a difference.

Visits to the school or further discussion about the role with the Headteacher are welcomed.

This post is term time only plus one week.
