Job summary

Lancashire County Council is recruiting a teaching assistant for Fulwood St Peter's Church of England Primary School and Nursery in Preston to join a happy, dynamic staff.

You will support pupils in KS2, supervise lunchtimes, and help run small group interventions; part-time term-time only with pro-rata pay. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to maintain high standards and foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • NVQ level 2 or above qualification or equivalent.
  • Level 2 English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Summary

We are looking to appoint someone highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed teaching assistant to join our happy and dynamic staff team. This role includes lunchtime supervision, supporting pupils in class, providingintervention programmes and supportingsmall groups of children. Hours are variable (minimum of 5hour) Monday to Friday. We require a person who can work effectively within a team and can demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to school improvement and high standards in a family environment.

Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro –rata basis.

Essential Qualifications
  • NVQ level 2 or above qualification appropriate to the post (or equivalent.)
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Paediatric First Aid.
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working in a KS2classroom environment.
  • Ability to relate well to all children.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with good communication skills.
  • Undertake playground supervision, set up and run activities for pupils in playground areas.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of meeting SEND needs and monitoring progress.
