Job summary

St Edmund's Catholic Primary School, Skelmersdale, Lancashire, is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant Level 2 to support pupils across learning activities. Summary We are a small school in Skelmersdale that serves the area of New Church Farm. Our children are wonderful and love to learn.

We are looking for a special person who will support children in their learning within a class, small group or 1 to 1 basis in terms of academic, behaviour, personal and social development, including those with special needs and/or bilingual needs. To establish positive relationships with pupils and assist them to complete structured learning activities. The role would be to ensure pupils remain on task and to report progress to the teacher. All applicants should be well organised and have the ability to prioritise their workload. They must be patient, calm and understanding yet understand the importance of their professional role.

The post is between 20 -24 hours. The candidate needs to be prepared to work between the hours of 8.00 and 5.30. They could be covering breakfast club, afterschool club, lunchtime duty and classes depending on the requirements at that time. The candidate may work in a variety of classes from EYFS to KS2. The contract will be for one academic year in the first instance.

We would provide the successful candidate with the relevant training required in relation to the role of Teaching Assistant Level 2. We offer a small school family which helps and supports each other including a strong governing body.
