Job summary

Hampton Lucy C of E Primary School & Nursery in Warwick is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEND. The role is fixed-term, EHCP-funded, with term-time hours plus INSET days, and requires sensitivity, consistency and teamwork with staff and families.

The successful candidate will support the pupil to access teaching, assist with wellbeing needs and follow school policies while building a trusting relationship with the child and parents.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting children or young people, ideally in an education, SEND or similar setting.
• Ability to support the child's sensory and emotional needs.
• Willing to undertake appropriate training.
• Understand dignity, privacy, safeguarding and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Able to communicate effectively with the child, parents/carers, teachers and relevant professionals.
• Able to follow written care plans, risk assessments and school policies.
• Have good safeguarding awareness and be willing to undertake the appropriate safer-recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

Band F, scp 7-10 (F7 - £27274 to F10 - £29071 full time salary) to work 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks of the year (term time only plus 5 INSET days)

Actual starting salary is £20,514 per annum after pro rata.

We are looking to recruit a caring, patient and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with an individual pupil. The successful candidate will work closely with the child, developing a positive and trusting relationship, and work effectively with the classroom team, parents and other professionals.

This is a 1:1 role, supporting the child to access teaching and learning, support sensory and emotional needs, and develop their independence.

Contract type

This is a fixed-term position linked to the provision of additional support required under a pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and the associated funding received by the school.

The post has been established to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a specific pupil and will continue for as long as the school requires this additional EHCP-funded support provision. The contract will therefore end when the requirement for this additional support ceases, for example where the pupil leaves the school, the EHCP is amended and the level of support is no longer required, or the associated funding ceases.

Key Requirements

This post requires a dedicated, resourceful and caring person who is calm, reliable and child-centred, and who can provide consistent support while encouraging the child's independence.

The successful candidate will:
