Job summary

Prospere Learning Trust's CHS South is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join the friendly, inclusive secondary school. This permanent, full-time role (30 hours per week, term-time plus 1 week) supports pupils with learning, wellbeing and development under teachers and leaders.

You will assist in lesson prep, manage small groups and 1:1 support, monitor progress, and help maintain a safe, positive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
• Basic understanding of child development and learning.
• Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent/higher) in English and Maths.
• Demonstrates excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
• Can build strong, professional relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Is committed to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
• Works effectively as part of a team and shows a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Work with small groups under teacher supervision, including implementing Individual Learning Plans.
• Promote inclusion and equal access to learning.
• Encourage independence and positive behaviour.
• Attend to students' personal and welfare needs.
• Prepare classrooms and resources for lessons.
• Provide clerical and administrative support; assist with behaviour management.
• Undertake pupil record keeping as required.
• Uphold safeguarding, health and safety and data protection policies.
• Supervise pupils during classroom and outdoor activities.
• Contribute to the wider ethos and aims of the school.
• Participate in training and performance development.
