Job summary

Shawclough Primary in Rochdale is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 1 to work across the school, including EYFS, Nursery, Reception, Rainbow unit for autism, and Rainforest unit for complex needs. The post is 19.5 hours per week during term time and carried out under supervision of teaching staff.

The role requires enthusiasm, warmth and experience supporting children with learning difficulties, with a focus on delivering differentiated learning and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• Applicants should be enthusiastic, warm and friendly.
• Background in behavior support is preferred.
• Ability to work in 1:1 and small group settings across the whole school (EYFS to Year 6).
• Experience supporting pupils with a range of learning difficulties.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of learning difficulties and contribute to differentiated curriculum delivery.
• Work under the direction of teaching staff in mainstream and specialist units (Rainbow and Rainforest).
• Assist in 1:1 and small-group teaching sessions.
• Collaborate with other staff and external agencies to support inclusion.

Teaching Assistant Level 1

The Headteacher, Governors and children of our friendly school are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant to work in across the school including mainstream school, Nursery, Reception, Rainbow our autism unit and Rainforest our complex needs unit.

All posts will work under the direction/supervision of teaching staff. Applicants are required to be enthusiastic, warm and friendly, and experienced in supporting children with a range of learning difficulties, preferably with a background in behavior support. The job will include a contribution to the delivery of a differentiated curriculum enabling meaningful inclusion and access to learning.

You will:

• Enjoy working with children.
• Have the appropriate childcare qualifications.
• Work well with other staff and agencies.
• Be well motivated, have a positive attitude and be emotionally resilient.
• Have the ability to work in a 1:1 situation and to teach small groups.
• Have the ability to work in all areas of the school starting at EYFS up to Year 6 including the Rainbow Unit, the Rainforest Unit and Nursery.
