We are seeking an inspiring Teaching Assistant with a passion for pupils to achieve their best. This post is permanent to start 1st September 2025.

James Bateman Middle School is a “good school” (Ofsted – July 2023). We encourage all pupils to be the best that they can be, seeing each individual as unique, with their own strengths and areas to improve. Our pupils enjoy their lessons; they are inspired to be inquisitive about their learning. Staff have high expectations of all pupils and provide challenge that enables them to realise their potential.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in KS2 and/or KS3. You will be joining an experienced and rapidly developing team responsible for supporting pupils across all areas of the curriculum. You will have knowledge and understanding of supporting a wide range of special educational needs in a mainstream school. It may be possible that you will be asked to work 1-2-1 with a pupil with specific needs.

Under the direction of the SENDCo and the class teachers, you will assist in the implementation of pupils’ individual targets. As well as working in a whole class setting you will be responsible for working, unsupervised in the learning support area planning and delivering personalised intervention programmes.

We are a Dyslexia Friendly School; you will have some responsibility for the continued development of these strategies and will be innovative in the creation of new resources.

If you are energetic, self-motivated and enthusiastic, have a positive outlook and enjoy a challenge, and feel you have what it takes to improve the outcomes for our SEND pupils, you will enjoy working within this team. In return you can expect a comprehensive package of well-being support and ongoing professional development.

“This authority/school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.”
