Job summary

The Supply Register, in partnership with The Heath Trust Schools, is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support across the trust on a supply basis. You will work under teachers to deliver engaging learning and provide targeted support for pupils, including those with SEND, ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.

Flexibility is key: you will cover lessons, lead learning activities, and contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom environment while building strong relationships with pupils

Qualifications

  • HLTA status or relevant higher-level school experience desirable.
  • Level 3 TA qualification or equivalent desirable.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C/4+ preferred.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers with engaging, inclusive learning experiences.
  • Lead learning activities and lessons when directed.
  • Work with individuals, small groups and whole classes to aid progress.
  • Provide targeted support for SEND (ASD, ADHD, SEMH).
  • Adapt activities to meet diverse needs and learning styles.
  • Support positive behaviour management and high engagement.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Contribute to safe, inclusive learning environments.
  • Assist with running lessons and classroom activities.
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.

The Supply Register is proud to be working in partnership with The Heath Trust to recruit experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to support schools across the Trust on a supply basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for skilled education professionals looking for flexible work within a supportive and collaborative multi-academy trust. As an HLTA, you will play an important role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning, helping pupils make progress and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Supply Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive, and effective learning experiences.
  • Lead learning activities and lessons in the absence of, or under the direction of, the class teacher.
  • Work with individuals, small groups, and whole classes to support pupil progress.
  • Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the needs of pupils with different abilities and learning styles.
  • Support positive behaviour management and promote high standards of behaviour and engagement.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to learning plans where appropriate.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and other professionals.
  • Promote an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment where all pupils are encouraged to succeed.
  • Use initiative and take responsibility for supporting the smooth running of lessons and classroom activities.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
Experience

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Experience leading lessons, interventions, small-group activities, or learning sessions.
  • A strong understanding of effective behaviour management and classroom practice.
  • The confidence to work independently while also working effectively as part of a wider teaching team.
  • The ability to adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of pupils.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.
Qualifications
  • HLTA status or relevant experience working at a higher level within a school setting is desirable.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above is preferred.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through The Supply Register.
