St Mary's Church of England Primary School Amersham is seeking an enthusiastic and caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils in KS1 and KS2. The role will involve one-to-one work and small group sessions and carries a minimum of 27 hours per week with lunch duties.

You will help with classroom routines, safeguarding, and contribute to a safe, Christian-inspired learning environment. The school values organisation, communication, and dedication to pupil welfare.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction of teachers.

  • Prepare classrooms and display pupils' work, then clear away.
  • Provide clerical/admin support, e.g. photocopying, typing and filing.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities.
  • Accompany teachers and pupils on out-of-school activities and supervise a group.
  • Undertake playground duties.

About the role: To provide support to teachers in the management of pupils' learning.

1 a) DUTIES
  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, SENCO and class teachers
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social, health, hygiene, first-aid and welfare matters
  • Prepare classrooms and clear afterwards and assist with the display of pupils' work
  • Provide clerical/admin support, e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, collecting money, record keeping
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities
  • Accompany teachers and pupils on out-of-school activities and take responsibility for a group, under the direction of a teacher
  • Undertake playground duties

1 c) HEALTH AND SAFETY
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection; and report all concerns to an appropriate person.
1 d) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The jobholder is required to contribute to and support the overall aims and ethos of the school. All staff are required to participate in training and other learning activities, and in performance management and development, as required by the school's policies and practice. Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance. The duties described above may vary from time to time without changing their general character or the levels of responsibility entailed and are intended to provide a broad indication of what is included in the job. Different emphases may be given to different aspects according to the requirements of the school and, in particular, the age of the pupils., St Mary's C of E Primary school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be responsible for: Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for pupils. Recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns promptly. Following the school's procedures for recording and escalating concerns. Completing required safeguarding training and maintaining professional boundaries. Working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and relevant agencies when required.
