Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking Teaching Assistants to work across Caerphilly’s schools with flexible, ad hoc to daily hours. Roles include 1:1 and small-group support under teachers, helping pupils engage with learning in alternative provision settings.

Start ASAP with potential for permanent placement after 12 weeks. Ideal candidates are patient, calm and adaptable, with a willingness to train and undertake DBS checks.

Teaching Assistant – Flexible School Work Flexible Hours Caerphilly Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm Start Date: ASAP

Are you passionate about education and supporting young people who may need a different approach to learning? We are looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work across alternative provision and behavioural settings in Caerphilly. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young people who may have faced challenges within mainstream education, helping them re-engage with learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships within a structured and supportive environment. You’ll work alongside experienced teachers and education staff, providing individual and small-group support to pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require additional support to access education.

Your role as a Teaching Assistant:

• Support pupils to engage with learning and education
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support under the direction of the class teacher
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
• Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop emotional regulation
• Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills
• Help create a calm, safe and structured learning environment
• Assist with classroom activities and educational programmes
• Work closely with teachers and support staff as part of a school-based team
• Encourage young people to recognise their strengths and work towards their individual goals

About you:

• Passionate about education and supporting young people
• Patient, resilient, calm and adaptable
• Confident managing challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent way
• Interested in working within alternative provision or behavioural settings
• Previous experience in education, youth work, care, support work or similar settings is desirable but not essential
• A willingness to learn and undertake relevant training
• Reliable and confident working as part of a supportive education team
