Job summary

Leeds City College is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support adults learners where English is their second language (ESOL) or students taking English / Maths. The role is fixed term, 37 weeks per year, 37 hours per week until July 31st 2027, with a pro rata salary of £22,463.

The post is based at the Enfield Centre with hybrid working; evenings may be required. You will work alongside teachers to identify ALS learners, develop assessment plans, and help learners achieve SMART targets.

Qualifications

• You should hold a L2 or L3 teaching assistant qualification, or be working towards this qualification.
• You should have a good standard of spoken and written English.
• You may have some experience supporting second language learners in Further Education.
• You may have some experience working in EFL.

Responsibilities

• Work with teachers to support individuals who have additional learning support needs.
• Identify ALS students and create an assessment plan to support them.
• Develop the essential knowledge and understanding to support ESOL learners.
• Support students to achieve their individual SMART learning targets.
• Monitor students to develop their skills to enable progression.
