Job summary

Castleford Park Junior Academy is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to work within a classroom and year group to accelerate pupil progress. You will use a range of classroom strategies and diagnostic assessments to aid learning and support pupils' personal needs in the classroom.

The role requires GCSEs Maths and English, ICT competence, and a commitment to regular after-school professional development.

Qualifications

• GCSEs Maths and English (A*-C) or Grade 4+.
• Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
• Team player with initiative; supports individuals or small groups.
• Competent ICT user.
• Willing to undertake regular after-school professional development.
• Experience with SEND pupils in a classroom setting.
• Ability to make learning engaging in creative ways.
• Understanding of supporting disadvantaged pupils.
• Experience with pupils needing modified environments and reintegration.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of classroom and year group team to accelerate pupil progress.
• Become familiar with classroom strategies and diagnostic assessments to aid learning.
• Support pupil learning and manage pupils' personal needs.
• Provide feedback to teachers after planned activities.
• Work in small groups or 1-1 to help progress.
• Collaborate with inclusion team to improve access to the curriculum.
• Report potential child protection issues to the officer promptly.
• Support the Academy in pupil safety and welfare.
• Engage in in-house and external professional development.
• Be listened to and valued by the team.
