Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with ASD in a Bracknell primary setting. The role focuses on 1:1 engagement, behavioural support, and helping the pupil access the curriculum.

The ideal candidate will have SEN experience, especially ASD, and a calm, proactive approach with strong communication skills. The position is term-time, full-time, with ongoing professional development and DBS checks provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs, ensuring access to the curriculum.
  • Support the pupil in managing behaviour and maintaining focus during lessons.
  • Assist in the delivery of learning activities, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in learning.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to implement tailored support strategies.

About the Role

Teaching Personnel is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive mainstream primary school in the Bracknell area. This rewarding role involves providing targeted support to pupils, with a particular focus on working 1:1 with a Year 4 pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the pupil engage with learning, manage behavioural challenges, and build confidence within the classroom setting. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child’s educational journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs, ensuring access to the curriculum.
  • Support the pupil in managing behaviour and maintaining focus during lessons.

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly ASD (essential).
  • Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small group settings.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to the needs of the pupil and school environment.
