We are looking for two highly skilled Level 3 Teaching Assistants to support children with an EHCP and a diagnosis of autism in our new SEND Resource Base opening in September.
Successful candidates will support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils, including providing specialist skills as appropriate.
Support to Pupils
- Provide pastoral support to pupils within the school environment.
- Assist children with personal needs, health issues, first aid, intimate care, and welfare matters.
- Provide structured support following work programmes designed and supervised by individual teachers.
- Support children with SEND in 1-1 and small group settings, ensuring their learning needs are fully met.
- Contribute to raising standards by promoting high expectations for pupils.
- Implement Individual Education/Behaviour/Support/Mentoring plans.
- Ensure pupil safety by following good H&S practices.
- Accompany staff and pupils on visits, trips, and activities outside school.
- Encourage pupils to interact and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Understand individual children’s EHCPs and utilize them to support pupils effectively.
Support to Teacher
- Act as Cover Supervisor during teacher absences, supervising classes or groups undertaking pre-planned work or self-directed learning.
- Support the development and implementation of educational and behaviour plans.
- Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and behaviour management strategies.
- Support pupils in achieving learning goals, such as guided reading.
- Supervise pupils during curriculum activities under the guidance of a qualified teacher.
- Assist in planning learning activities and monitor pupil responses, recording progress as directed.
- Organize and coordinate pupils for extra-curricular and out-of-school activities.
- Provide feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievements and progress.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to classroom activities, such as producing worksheets.
Support to Curriculum
- Support literacy, numeracy, and SEN strategies.
- Promote the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ independence in its use.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, evaluation, and development.
- Participate in developing school policies and procedures.
- Assist in developing, preparing, and sharing learning materials.
Support to School
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons.
- Comply with policies on child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, guardians, welfare officers, health visitors, and other professionals.
- Contribute to the ethos, work, and aims of the school.
- Attend meetings, participate in training, and engage in performance development.
- Supervise pupils outside lesson times, including before and after school and during lunchtimes.
