Job description

We are looking for two highly skilled Level 3 Teaching Assistants to support children with an EHCP and a diagnosis of autism in our new SEND Resource Base opening in September.

Successful candidates will support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils, including providing specialist skills as appropriate.

Support to Pupils
  • Provide pastoral support to pupils within the school environment.
  • Assist children with personal needs, general health, first aid, intimate care, and welfare matters.
  • Support children with SEND in 1-1 and small group settings, ensuring their learning needs are fully met.
  • Contribute to raising standards by promoting high expectations for pupils.
  • Implement and support Individual Education, Behaviour, Support, and Mentoring plans.
  • Ensure pupils' safety by adhering to good H&S practices.
  • Accompany staff and pupils on visits, trips, and out-of-school activities.
  • Encourage pupils to interact and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Understand and utilize individual children’s EHCPs to support them effectively.
Support to Teacher
  • Act as Cover Supervisor during teacher absence, supervising classes or groups undertaking pre-planned work or self-directed learning.
  • Support the development and implementation of individual plans.
  • Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and behaviour management strategies.
  • Support pupils in achieving learning goals, such as guided reading.
  • Supervise pupils during specific curriculum activities under teacher guidance.
  • Assist in planning learning activities and monitoring pupil responses.
  • Coordinate and organize pupils for extra-curricular activities and out-of-school experiences.
  • Provide regular feedback on pupils’ progress and achievement.
  • Support with administrative tasks related to classroom activities.
Support to Curriculum
  • Support literacy, numeracy, and SEN strategies.
  • Promote the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ independence with technology.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, evaluation, and development.
  • Participate in working groups to develop school policies.
  • Assist in preparing and disseminating learning materials.
Support to School
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons.
  • Comply with policies on child protection, health, safety, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, guardians, and other professionals.
  • Contribute to the ethos, work, and aims of the school.
  • Attend meetings, participate in training, and support out-of-lesson supervision, including before and after school, and lunchtimes.
