School is about children "having the time of theirlives" - filling their days with so many happy memories that when theylook back, they also inspire future generations to enjoy learning. For thisreason, we have a challenging programme of extra-curricular activities in ahuge range of disciplines - from sport to performing arts; culture days tocharity fund-raising events and a student leadership team that is given genuineagency to effect change.
The school is well resourced. New technologies are widelyavailable and are helping to transform teaching and learning across a diverserange of subjects. In addition, ongoing investment ensures our facilitiesremain extensive and well maintained.
Staff morale is high. The school leadership has a genuinecommitment to staff wellbeing, and many staff members have completed theirwhole careers within the organisation. As a community, we seek to 'positivelynotice' others, perhaps best seen in our weekly Feel Good Friday celebrations.Staff are empowered to develop and experiment professionally in an environmentwhich prioritises psychological safety and mutual appreciation.
A particular strength of the school is the comprehensive CPDprogramme. Finham Park believes in utilising its existing expertise fromcolleagues, and thus all staff are encouraged to offer CPD to the rest of theschool. Therefore, weekly sessions of CPD are offered and staff sign up fortheir areas of interest. We have a broad induction programme for all new staffand trainees. Finham Park has also been instrumental in creating Teaching andLearning Communities as part of our CPD programme. This follows the ideas andresearch of Dylan William. This has sustained a culture of curiosity anddevelopment in the classroom of which, we at Finham, are immensely proud.
