Job summary

Lancashire County Council's Longton Primary and Nursery School is seeking a Level 2b Early Years Educator. The nursery provides a warm, nurturing environment where you will support the care, learning and development of nursery children and help provide engaging experiences that meet their individual needs.

You will also assist in the after-school club for children up to Year 1, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment. The role is permanent, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term-time only.

Qualifications

  • A relevant Level 2 Early Years qualification recognised for work within an early years setting.
  • Functional Skills/GCSE equivalent qualifications in English and Mathematics, or willingness to work towards these where applicable.

Summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and supportive team at Longton Primary and Nursery School as a Level 2b Early Years Educator. Our nursery provides a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn, develop and grow in confidence. Working alongside our experienced Nursery Leader, you will support the care, learning and development of our nursery children and help provide engaging experiences that meet their individual needs. The role will also include working in our after-school club, supporting children up to Year 1 who remain in school until collected by their families. You will help provide a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment, supporting activities, positive behaviour and children's wellbeing. When required, the successful candidate may also support children in other classrooms across the school.

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.50am–4.50pm, term time only.

This is a permanent position, subject to the Local Authority probationary period. The role offers the opportunity to work across both early years and wraparound care and become an important member of our school team.

Salary: Please note that the salary quoted is full‑time equivalent and the actual salary received will be paid on a pro‑rata basis for term‑time working.

Essential Qualifications
  • A relevant Level 2 Early Years qualification recognised for work within an early years setting.
  • Functional Skills/GCSE equivalent qualifications in English and Mathematics, or willingness to work towards these where applicable.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Paediatric First Aid.
  • Food Hygiene qualification.
  • Safeguarding training.
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with or caring for children in an early years or childcare setting.
  • Experience of supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing.
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of keeping children safe.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of working within a school nursery, preschool or early years setting.
  • Experience of supporting an after‑school club or wraparound care.
  • Experience of planning or supporting children's activities.
  • Experience of supporting children with additional needs.
