Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking energetic Teaching Assistants to join a Castle Cary secondary school on a day-to-day supply basis. You will support students in KS3/KS4, work with teachers, and help implement SEN support in a dynamic school environment.

Ideal for experienced TAs or graduates seeking local, flexible hours; DBS update service willingness is required. 8:30 AM–3:30 PM, term-time only, weekly pay via PAYE.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people (11–16) preferred.
• Strong communication skills with an approachable, confident manner.
• Proactive attitude and ability to adapt to different classroom settings.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students or small groups across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7-11) during lessons.
• Assist class teachers with general classroom support, keeping students focused and engaged in their tasks.
• Help implement tailored support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or additional learning requirements.
• Promote positive behaviour and foster a welcoming, safe learning space.
• Adapt quickly to different subjects, age groups, and classroom environments throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people (aged 11-16) in a school, youth group, tutoring, or care setting is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with an approachable, confident manner.
• A proactive attitude and the ability to hit the ground running in different classroom settings each day.
• Based in or able to commute easily to Castle Cary.
• Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. A degree or TA qualification (Level 2/3) is an advantage but not essential.
• Must hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service.
