Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Wigan. This role offers day-to-day supply with potential for longer-term placements, starting ASAP.

You will support students from Early Years to Key Stage 5, with strong behaviour management skills essential. Locations vary across Wigan, with flexible full-time or part-time hours (8:30 am–3pm or other school times) and pay starting at £100 per day; benefits include safeguarding training and ongoing professional

Qualifications

• Strong behaviour management skills is essential.
• Any teaching related qualifications are desirable but not essential (Including teaching qualifications obtained abroad)
• Previous UK school experience is preferred, ideally up to 6 months
• Up-to-date safeguarding training issued in the last year is desirable as training is provided

Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is looking for Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Wigan.

Acting as a work-finding service, we provide supply cover to a range of Primary, Secondary and SEND Schools; from small village schools to large secondary schools. We are looking for Teaching Assistants to support students from Early Years all the way up to Key Stage 5. Strong behaviour management skills are essential.

Prospero Teaching works with both experienced Teaching Assistants and those first embarking on their career in education by helping you find your next position. Some contracts may be extended from day-to-day bookings to longer-term cover.

• Location - Various locations across Wigan
• Position - Teaching Assistant
• Type of work - Support students either by supervising a small group of students in activities, working 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 with students, aid the Teacher in the classroom.
• Start date - ASAP
• Duration / Likely Duration - Day-to-day bookings, with the potential for extension depending on schools
• End date (if applicable) - N/A
• Contract type - Temporary
• Full time/part time - Part time and full time depending on schools needs
• Minimum rate of pay - £100 per day - Rate negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications
• Hours - 8:30 am - 3pm (full day), half day (am or pm), individual lesson cover. Start and end time can vary from school to school

Experience, Training and Qualifications

Any teaching related qualifications are desired but not essential (Including teaching qualifications obtained abroad)

• Teaching Assistant qualifications
• SEN/SEMH Awareness
• Previous experience working in a UK school, ideally up to at least 6 months
• Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential as training is provided)

To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional references that cover the last two years, notwithstanding referencing any appropriate child-related work experience
• Appropriate CV history
