Job summary

Washington Academy is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support students across the classroom, helping them engage with learning and overcome barriers to progress. You will work with teachers to provide individual and small-group support and help create an inclusive learning environment.

Experience with children, strong literacy and numeracy skills, and the ability to support students with additional needs (including autism) are valued.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support students across the classroom, helping them to engage with learning and overcome barriers to their progress. You will build positive relationships with students, provide individual and small-group support and help create a positive, inclusive and purposeful learning environment.

The role will include supporting students with additional needs, including students with autism, and helping them to develop their confidence, independence and skills. You will also support learning activities, monitor progress, provide feedback to teachers and contribute to the wider life of the school.

The Role

Contract: Fixed Term to 31 August 2027
Working Pattern: 32.5 hours per week, term time plus 5 days
Grade: Grade 4 (NJC scale points 6-8) £21,719.96 - £22,417.35
Actual Salary: £21,719.96 - £22,417.35

You will work under the instruction and guidance of teachers to provide specific learning, care and support programmes, enabling students to access learning and supporting teachers in the management of students and the classroom. The role may involve working within the classroom or outside the main teaching area.
