Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant in Sunderland to support pupils with complex needs across KS1 and KS2. You will work in welcoming schools, helping children build confidence, independence and engagement with learning, through day-to-day and longer-term supply placements from September.

The role requires experience with SEND, a patient and resilient approach, and strong communication skills.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with welcoming schools in Sunderland who are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs. These schools provide positive and supportive environments where children are encouraged to develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning.

The schools are looking to take on a SEND Teaching Assistant for day-to-day and long-term supply opportunities from September, working with pupils across Key Stage 1 / KS1 and Key Stage 2 / KS2. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will support children with complex needs, assist with their learning and development and help provide a safe, engaging and inclusive classroom environment.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children with SEND and complex needs
• Experience supporting children within a primary school or similar setting
• Experience working with Key Stage 1 / KS1 and Key Stage 2 / KS2 pupils
• A patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication skills
• A flexible and positive attitude
