Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 in Stowmarket and surrounding areas. Roles include day-to-day classroom cover or long-term placements, offering flexibility to fit your schedule.

You will support teachers, reinforce literacy and numeracy, and assist with SEND needs while promoting a positive learning environment. DBS checks and safeguarding requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in educational, childcare, nursery, or community settings preferred.
• Strong communication skills and a patient, encouraging approach.
• GCSE English and Maths at level 4/C or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to class teachers in preparing resources and managing classroom activities.
• Work 1:1 or with small groups to reinforce literacy, numeracy, and core curriculum tasks.
• Help children build confidence, focus and social skills, with gentle guidance.
• Assist pupils with SEND by tailoring activities to individual needs.
• Support classroom management and positive behaviour in line with school policies.
• Assist with supervision during breaks and school trips.

Key Responsibilities

What We Look For

• Previous experience supporting children in an educational, childcare, nursery, or community setting.
• A warm, patient, and encouraging approach with strong communication skills.
• Good standards of literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths preferred).
• An adaptable, proactive attitude with the ability to step into different primary classrooms with confidence.
• A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
