Job summary

Smile Education is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs in a Solihull/Redditch-based secondary setting. Immediate start is available.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, supporting learning, communication and engagement while upholding safeguarding and professional boundaries. A compassionate, patient approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Experience in a secondary school setting is desirable.
• Patient, calm, and compassionate approach.
• Confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis.
• Understanding safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Comfortable with intimate/personal care if required.
• Reliable, adaptable and committed to pupil's needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a secondary pupil with additional needs.
• Support learning, communication, confidence and engagement.
• Help pupil access lessons and participate in school life.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Work closely with teacher, SENCO and support team.
• Build trusting, consistent relationship with pupil.

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting a young person on a 1:1 basis?

Smile Education is currently recruiting for a welcoming secondary school in Redditchseeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide individual support to a pupil with additional needs.

The Role

• Providing 1:1 support to a secondary-aged pupil with additional needs.


• Supporting the pupil with their learning, communication, confidence and engagement.


• Helping the pupil access lessons and participate positively in school life.


• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour where required.


• Intimate care may be required, depending on the pupil's individual needs.


• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team.


• Building a trusting, consistent and positive relationship with the pupil.


• Following individual support plans and school safeguarding procedures.

We're Looking For

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.


• Experience in a secondary school setting is desirable.


• A patient, calm and compassionate approach.


• Confidence supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis.


• Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.


• Comfortable undertaking intimate/personal care if required.


• Reliable, adaptable and committed to supporting the pupil's individual needs.
