Support Worker - Small Independent School for Children with Autism & Challenging Behaviour

Location: Peterborough

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only, Temp to Perm for the right candidate

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with autism and challenging behaviours? Monarch Education is seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join a small, supportive independent school in Peterborough that specializes in providing tailored educational and behavioural support for children with special educational needs.

About The Role

Your primary responsibility as a Support Worker will be to support children with autism and behavioural challenges, helping them access the curriculum and develop social and emotional skills. You will work closely with teachers and the wider team to implement individualised support plans, manage behaviours, and create a safe and nurturing environment. Your role is vital in promoting positive outcomes and ensuring each child's needs are met with patience and understanding.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with autism and behavioural difficulties
2. Assist in delivering tailored educational activities aligned with each child's EHCP and support plans
3. Support children in developing social skills, communication, and emotional regulation
4. Manage behaviours effectively using positive behaviour management techniques (Team Teach training is advantageous but not essential)
5. Support children during classroom and break times, fostering a safe environment
6. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to track progress and adapt strategies accordingly
7. Promote independence and confidence in each child, encouraging active participation in lessons and activities

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with children with challenging behaviour and SEND is highly desirable
• Team Teach or similar behaviour management qualification is advantageous but not essential
