Support Worker - Small Independent School for Children with Autism & Challenging Behaviour

Location: Peterborough

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only, Temp to Perm for the right candidate

Monarch Education is seeking dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join a small, supportive independent school in Peterborough that specializes in providing tailored educational and behavioural support for children with special educational needs.

About The Role

As a Support Worker, your primary responsibility will be to support children with autism and behavioural challenges, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential social and emotional skills. You will work closely with teachers and the wider team to implement individualised support plans, manage behaviours, and create a safe and nurturing environment. Your role will be vital in promoting positive outcomes and ensuring each child's needs are met with patience and understanding.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with autism and behavioural difficulties
• Assist in the delivery of tailored educational activities aligned with each child's individual EHCP and support plans
• Support children in developing social skills, communication, and emotional regulation
• Manage behaviours effectively using positive behaviour management techniques (Team Teach training is advantageous but not essential)
• Support children during classroom and break times, fostering a safe and supportive environment
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to track progress and adapt support strategies accordingly
• Promote independence and confidence in each child, encouraging active participation in lessons and activities
