Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to education? A welcoming secondary school in Lymington is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of young people who may be struggling to engage with school and their education.

The role will involve working closely with pupils who may be disengaged from learning, helping them to build confidence, develop positive relationships with education and ultimately reach their potential.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils who are struggling to engage with education.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent source of encouragement.
  • Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning and improve their engagement in school.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
  • Help students develop their social, emotional and educational skills.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to provide a consistent approach to supporting individual pupils.
  • Adapt your approach to meet the needs of different students.
  • Encourage pupils to participate in lessons and wider school life.
  • Provide reassurance and guidance to students who may lack confidence in their ability or place within education.

Previous experience working with children or young people is highly desirable. Experience within a school, SEN, pastoral, youth work or support setting would be particularly beneficial, although the school will consider candidates with the right attitude, personality and transferable skills.
