Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant for a unique school in Headington that supports students diagnosed with Autism and severe learning difficulties. You will work 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils engage with their learning, using a bespoke EYFS-inspired approach and a calm, patient demeanor.

The role is full-time and long-term, with competitive daily pay between £90 and £110, paid PAYE.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or classroom support to pupils.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a unique school in Headington, that supports students who are diagnosed with Autism and severe learning difficulties. Your role as a Teaching Assistant, will involve giving a voice to the children who may not be able to communicate their thoughts or needs. This is a very rewarding role, where you will be able to work on a 1:1 basis, as you'll be assigned to a couple of children througout the day. The setting boasts wonderful outdoor areas that are used for regulation purposes and exploration through play. This therapeutic school provides a bespoke curriculum following the EYFS framework due to the cognitive level of the children who attend.

TeacherActive are looking to take on a SEND Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis. If you have experience as a residential or general support worker you are invite to apply aswell, no school experience necessary, but you will need to have experience working with children and young people in any capacity.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children or young people needs
• Experience supporting children with autism or challenging behaviour
• Confident in your own ability
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
• A positive 'can-do' attitude and willingness to get stuck in
