Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist education setting in Quidenham, Norfolk. You will support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them access learning and build essential skills in a calm environment.

Location: Quidenham, Norfolk Start Date: September 2026 (or as soon as possible)

Salary: £100 - £120 per day (dependent on experience)

The Role:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups throughout the school day.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
• Help pupils to develop academically, socially and emotionally.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff.
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and daily classroom routines.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly ASD (desirable but not essential).
• A patient, caring and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications or transferable experience are desirable.
