Unity Education Trust is seeking a versatile Teaching Assistant to support across all key stages in an all-through setting. The role involves helping pupils with their work, supporting behaviour, and building strong relationships as a positive role model.
Some pupils have SEBD and require experienced staff who can adapt to individual needs. The role includes liaising with guardians and may involve 1:1 or group support, with handling challenging behaviours and ensuring safety.
We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Teaching Assistant, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, assisting the children with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
Our schools are specialists in catering for various students in an all-through setting, our varied cohort of students include children classed as missing education and permanently excluded from mainstream schools, as such many of the pupils have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD). These children need the very best adults to work with them.
This school offers academic and vocational avenues to their students with the aim of re‑integration, and as such, an experienced Teaching Assistant who has worked in a similar setting would be extremely useful. As part of this role, you would also be expected to liaise closely with the guardians.
This role requires a firm but fair role model to appropriately deal with the challenging behaviour you will encounter on a daily basis, be it in a 1:1 or group setting. If you have the experience and resilience to deal with the challenges you will face,
Please note that the role does involve some regular physical activity e.g. restrictive physical interventions, interacting with students through play on the floor and responding promptly to escalated situations. This does not remove our obligation to make adjustments where appropriate.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.
