Job summary

Milk Education is seeking Teaching Assistants to support learners in Manchester primary schools on day-to-day, short-term, long-term or temp-to-perm placements starting September 2026.

You will work with teachers to deliver engaging lessons, support pupils including those with SEND, and help with classroom preparation and resources in a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Level 2/3 TA qualification desirable.
  • Experience with children in school or similar setting desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND advantageous.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Patient, enthusiastic and adaptable approach to supporting pupils.
  • Ability to work with a wider school team and safeguarding commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers with delivery of engaging lessons across the primary curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to develop confidence and understanding.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs where appropriate.
  • Help create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Work with teachers and staff to support pupil learning and development.

We're currently recruiting for Teaching Assistants to work in our partner primary schools across Manchester on a day-to-day, short-term, long-term or temp-to-perm basis, starting September 2026.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons across the primary curriculum.
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils to develop their confidence, understanding and independence.
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND, where appropriate.
  • Helping to create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting pupils with their social, emotional and communication development.
  • Assisting with classroom preparation, learning resources and general classroom organisation.
  • Working closely with teachers and wider school staff to support pupils' learning and development.
  • Building positive and professional relationships with pupils, helping them to engage positively with their learning.
  • Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, lunchtimes and other activities where required.
  • Following school safeguarding policies and promoting the welfare of all children and young people.
Requirements or Skills:
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND is advantageous.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their education and development.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • A patient, enthusiastic and adaptable approach to supporting pupils.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
