Exciting Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant at Rikama Education Limited

Rikama Education Limited is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team at an SEN school located in the London Borough of Greenwich. The school provides an inclusive and nurturing environment for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically those with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

About the School:

  • Ofsted rated Outstanding
  • A diverse and inclusive curriculum that caters to a wide range of learning needs
  • Small class sizes, typically with 4-8 students per class, allowing for focused, individualised support
  • A strong emphasis on holistic development, creating a positive and stimulating learning environment

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with students on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your role will involve assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons, implementing behaviour management strategies, supporting students with personal care where needed, and helping to ensure that each child's individual learning needs are met.

You will need to be proactive in supporting students to overcome any barriers to learning and development, encouraging their independence and fostering positive behaviour. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with additional learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support for students with SEMH, ADHD, and ASD
  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of tailored lessons and activities
  • Helping students develop key social, emotional, and academic skills
  • Supporting the implementation of behaviour management strategies
  • Providing pastoral care to ensure students feel safe and supported in the school environment
  • Working closely with teaching staff to monitor and track student progress
  • Assisting with general classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, preferably in a school environment (primary or secondary level)
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional learning needs and helping them to reach their full potential
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting students with diverse needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • A proactive, adaptable, and resourceful attitude

What We Offer:

  • A dedicated consultant who will support you throughout your role and career development
  • Ongoing professional development and training to help you build your skills and knowledge in the SEN sector
  • The opportunity for a long-term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent position at the school
  • Competitive pay rates and a supportive work environment
