Job summary

Tilewood School is a brand-new specialist school opening in Buckinghamshire, designed to support students aged 5 to 16 with autism and additional needs. We are seeking compassionate, enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our founding team and help build a nurturing, safe environment where every pupil can thrive.

Working with teachers, therapists and a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver personalised learning, support IEPs, and promote safeguarding and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is essential.
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism and additional needs.
  • Patient, caring, resilient and committed to helping every pupil succeed.
  • Enjoys collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Builds positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, personalised learning for pupils with Autism and additional needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where every pupil can thrive.
  • Support the implementation of IEPs, Behaviour Support Plans and communication strategies.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Prepare learning resources and assist with classroom organisation and educational activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion while maintaining accurate records.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, personalised learning for pupils with Autism and additional needs.

  • Encourage independence, confidence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Prepare learning resources and assist with classroom organisation and educational activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver consistent support.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion while maintaining accurate records and contributing to school life.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • Level 2 or level 3 teaching assistant qualification is essential.
  • Is passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism and additional needs.
  • Is patient, caring, resilient and committed to helping every pupil succeed.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

About us

Tilewood School is an exciting new addition to the Options Autism family, provisionally set to open its doors in April 2027. Designed to support up to 72 students aged 5 to 16, the school will offer a nurturing and inclusive learning environment tailored to meet the diverse needs of its pupils.

For over 19 years, Options Autism has provided specialist care and education for children, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties.
