Learning Support Assistant (SEN 1-1)

Position: Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant (SEN 1-1)
Location: Camden, NW London
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term, 8:30am-4pm
Start Date: ASAP

About Us:
A delightful Catholic primary school in Camden is looking for a dedicated and supportive learning support assistant to join their Year 4 classroom. The school prides itself on its inclusive learning environment where the individual needs of each student are given the utmost importance. This lovely school is committed to nurturing both the academic and personal growth of every child, ensuring they receive the individualized attention they need to thrive.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant to provide 1-1 support for a child in Year 5 with autism. This role is essential in helping the student academically, emotionally, and socially, as well as maintaining focus and staying on task during class activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide 1-1 support to a Year 4 student with ASD.
  2. Assist with phonics, literacy, and numeracy tasks.
  3. Help the child maintain focus and stay on task in class.
  4. Implement individualized learning strategies to support the child's academic progress.
  5. Collaborate with teachers and SEN coordinators to develop and implement effective support plans.
  6. Monitor and report on the child's progress and development.
  7. Ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Previous experience working with children in KS2 is highly desirable.
  2. Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  3. A valid Child Workforce DBS on the update service is essential. We can help with this!
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children's learning and development.
