Job summary

Hayesdown First School in Frome is seeking a Teaching Assistant (Grade 3) for a fixed-term position. The role involves supporting classroom activities, personal care and helping pupils access learning during 8 hours per week, term-time plus 5 inset days.

The successful candidate will work 1-3pm four afternoons a week, with duties including supervising pupils, assisting with learning strategies, and maintaining a safe, orderly environment in line with lesson plans.

Qualifications

• Assist in managing students and classroom under guidance of teaching team.
• Support pupils' personal needs and welfare including first aid where needed.
• Implement learning programmes and track progress, feeding back to the teacher.
• Encourage pupil interaction and access to learning in a supportive environment.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant (Grade 3) who, under the instruction & guidance of our wonderful teaching team, can undertake work, care and support programmes to assist in managing the students & classroom, whilst ensuring that every pupil has access to learning and is achieving their full potential. This position would suit a positive, energetic, proactive team-player who is enthusiastic about making a difference!

Detail of daily working hours:

1-3pm x four afternoons per week (can be agreed with the candidate)

Responsibilities include:

• Attending to the pupils’ personal needs, and implementing related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
• Undertaking programmes linked to local and national learning strategies to support pupils to achieve learning goals, recording achievement & progress and feeding back to the teacher
• Supervising and providing particular support for pupils including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning
• Encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
• Creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans
