Job summary

Class Act Teaching Services is seeking a Secondary Teaching Assistant to support SEND students in a thriving secondary school with a sixth form, part of the Cambrian Learning Trust. The role offers an immediate start and a welcoming, safeguarding-conscious environment for staff and students.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, assisting teachers to deliver engaging lessons and helping pupils develop confidence and independence while promoting inclusive access to learning.

Qualifications

  • Essential SEND experience.
  • Desirable experience in a secondary school setting.
  • Knowledge of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with SEND on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

  • Support pupils with academic, social, emotional and communication needs.

Secondary Teaching Assistant (SEND)

Full-Time or Part-Time, Immediate Start, Until Half-Term, Potentially Extended to Christmas

Duties as a Secondary Teaching Assistant:
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Work on a one-to-one basis and with small groups of students
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
  • Support pupils with academic, social, emotional, and communication needs
  • Promote inclusion and ensure students can access the curriculum effectively
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SEND department
Ideal Secondary Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous SEND experience is essential
  • Experience working within a secondary school setting is desirable
  • Understanding of a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, caring, and adaptable approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
